Stress Management

There are so many stressors to manage in your teens and 20s. If you're still in school you are worrying about completing assignments, participating in activities, and attempting to have a social life. You may be avoiding classes altogether. Then there's the stress of planning for the future, whether it's choosing a college, a major, or a career path. It can make you feel full of self-doubt.

Interpersonal stressors include conflict with family members, navigating friend drama, relationship issues, social anxiety, and figuring out who you are - and who you want to be - in these situations. Social media and having each other's locations makes it SO MUCH WORSE. You know you shouldn't be comparing yourself or checking Snapchat streaks, but you just can't help it. You're making yourself miserable.

If you're in your 20s, you may have a job but no set career path. How are you supposed to know what you want to do for the rest of your life? You feel like you should know how to be an adult by now, but you're struggling. You put a lot of pressure on yourself to have all of the answers, and you're ashamed of yourself for not knowing more. That shame keeps you from asking for help, and now your stress levels are out of control.

It is common to get overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings sometimes. It can be confusing, stressful, and even scary. My job is to help you put all of those emotions into words and then find effective ways to manage them. That way you can learn how to control your thoughts and feelings so they don’t control you. Emotions aren’t necessarily good or bad, and we can’t stop ourselves from feeling them, but we can control how we interpret them and act on them.

I can help you learn ways to identify your priorities, figure out where you need to focus your energy, and reassure you that you are not alone. We'll talk about what self care looks like and having realistic expectations of yourself and others. It's not about doing everything perfectly, it's about not giving up on yourself. Contact me here so we can get started.
