Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we're the right fit?
Therapy works best when you feel comfortable being yourself — even if you're still figuring out who that is.

My approach is warm, honest, relational, and grounded in person-centered therapy. In my online therapy practice, I specialize in supporting teens, college students, and young adult women who are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, self-doubt, perfectionism, identity questions, and big emotions.

If you've read my About Me or Teen / Young Adult Therapy pages and something inside you thinks, "She might get me," — that's usually a good sign.

You're always welcome to send a simple message through my Contact Page to get a feel for the process.
Do you offer online therapy? Is it effective?
Yes — all sessions are 100% online, and telehealth therapy is highly effective for teens, college students, and young adults.

Meeting from a familiar, comfortable space often makes it easier to open up, settle your nervous system, and be honest about what you're feeling. Online therapy also helps with:

reducing anxiety that comes with new environments
avoiding transportation or traffic stress
keeping a steady routine during school, work, or travel
staying connected when away at college

You can read more about why online therapy works on my Services page.
Do you accept insurance?
My practice is private pay only.

Many clients prefer private pay for online therapy because it allows for:

full confidentiality (no diagnosis shared with insurance)
freedom to choose a therapist who truly feels like the right fit
sessions tailored to your needs rather than insurance limits
long-term consistency with the same therapist

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a Superbill for potential reimbursement.

More information is available on my Fees & Policies page.
What are your fees?
You'll find my current session fees, payment options, and all policy details on my Fees & Policies page.
I keep everything transparent so you can make the best decision for yourself or your family.
What is your cancellation / rescheduling policy?
I offer a compassionate, flexible policy that balances real life with the consistency therapy needs.

Here's the overview:

Two free waived missed sessions per year
A 3-week reschedule window (the week before, the week of, or the week after the missed session)
Weekly clients book a makeup session in addition to their regular session
Sessions not rescheduled within the window (and not using a Freebie) are charged the full rate

For the complete policy — including examples of what does or does not count as a makeup session — please visit my Fees & Policies page.
Do you work with parents?
Yes — when your teen or young adult is in therapy with me, I partner with you too, in ways that support their growth and the relationship you share.

I do not provide traditional family therapy.
However, I do include parents in sessions when the client requests it or when it meaningfully supports their therapeutic goals.
Parents often feel unsure how to help, or worried they'll say the wrong thing. You don't have to navigate that alone.
I offer guidance, language, and insight to help you:

understand what your child may be feeling
respond to big emotions with more confidence
communicate in ways that feel safer and more effective
support your child without overwhelming them

Once your child turns 18, they can sign a Release of Information if they would like me to share updates beyond scheduling or billing.

What ages do you work with?
I specialize in:

Teens (ages 13–17)
College students
Young adult women in their 20s

I also continue working with clients into their late 20s/early 30s if we began therapy earlier and they want to keep going.

You can learn more on my Teen Therapy and Young Adult Therapy pages.
What do you help with?

anxiety, overthinking, and panic
depression or emotional numbness
stress and burnout
perfectionism and people-pleasing

You can read more on the Anxiety, Depression, and Stress & Overwhelm pages.
Do you prescribe medication?
No — I'm a licensed therapist (LPC / LPCMH), not a psychiatrist or medical provider.

I don't prescribe medication, but with your written permission, I'm happy to collaborate with your doctor or psychiatrist. I can also provide references to trusted colleagues for medication management.
Do you write emotional support animal (ESA) letters?
No. I do not provide ESA letters for any clients.

If you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm, I'm here to help — but I don't offer documentation related to ESAs.
Do you offer therapy intensives?
Yes — I offer two different online Therapy Intensives for clients who want deeper, focused work in a shorter period of time.

How do I get started?

"I'd like to get support for my teen."
"I'm not sure what to say, but I think I need help."

I'll guide you through every next step.
You don't have to figure this out alone.
