The College Years Intensive

Student starting college

College is a season of huge transition — exciting, overwhelming, and full of expectations. Many students feel pressure to have everything figured out, even while navigating major emotional, social, and academic changes.

A Therapy Intensive for college students gives you (or your teen) focused support during a time when it's easy to feel lost, stuck, or unsure what comes next. Instead of waiting months for clarity through weekly therapy, an Intensive offers a structured, accelerated approach that helps you make meaningful progress faster.

According to the American College Health Association (ACHA), more than 60% of college students report overwhelming anxiety and nearly half struggle with depression at some point during the year. You're not alone — and you don't have to navigate this season without support.

Who Is the College Years Intensive For?

This Intensive is a good fit for college students or teens who:

feel overwhelmed by academic or social stress

are navigating anxiety, uncertainty about the future, or identity exploration

     are experiencing burnout or perfectionism

are adjusting to major transitions (new school, new city, living at home, transferring)

want support now instead of months of weekly therapy

This Intensive is helpful for college students seeking short-term therapy, focused support, and clarity around emotional, academic, or social challenges.

This Intensive Is Designed for Students Navigating the Realities of College Life, Including:

Starting college for the first time

Current students managing academic or social stress
Questioning whether college is the right fit

Taking a gap year or semester off
Living at home while friends are away at school
Preparing to graduate and unsure about next steps
     Recent graduates navigating "what now?"

Each of these experiences comes with its own emotions — excitement, pressure, confusion, anxiety, loneliness, self-doubt, or uncertainty. The Intensive helps you slow down, make sense of what you're feeling, and build a steadier path forward with structure and support.

What Students Often Say Before Starting

Students often come to me saying things like:

"I feel like everyone else is adjusting except me."

"My anxiety is out of control this semester."

"College doesn't feel the way I expected it to."

"I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start."

"I'm worried I chose the wrong major, school, or path."

"I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with my life."

"I feel like I'm behind, and everyone else seems so confident."

"I was so excited to go away to college… so why do I feel this homesick?"

"I've never had to study like this before. Maybe I'm just not smart enough."

"Everyone said it would be easy to make friends in college, but it hasn't been."

"It's only the first few weeks, but I'm already doubting whether I can handle this."

Why This Format Works So Well for College Students

Untitled design (58)_edited_edited_edite

Weekly therapy can be incredibly helpful, but many students tell me they need something:

     more structured

     more focused

     more immediate

more flexible with their academic schedule

The Therapy Intensive format gives you five total hours of dedicated therapeutic support — a 1-hour pre-Intensive session, a 3-hour deep-dive Intensive, and a 1-hour post-Intensive session (plus preparation and behind-the-scenes case formulation work).

The uninterrupted 3-hour core session allows you to go much deeper than traditional 50-minute therapy, while the pre- and post-sessions offer space to prepare, integrate, and maintain momentum.

This format can help you:

     untangle stress and overwhelm

feel more confident about choices or next steps

understand patterns that are keeping you stuck

build coping skills that actually work in real life

reconnect to your strengths, values, and identity

5 total hours of live therapy (1 + 3 + 1 format)

A personalized treatment workbook

Tailored coping strategies and next-step recommendations

Flexible scheduling to fit academic demands

Beyond the 5 live therapy hours, I also spend time reviewing your workbook responses and preparing thoughtful, targeted strategies to help you get the most out of your Intensive.

A Note for Parents

If you're a parent looking for support for your teen or college student, this Intensive gives them a structured space to:

     learn coping skills

     regain confidence

     clarify next steps

     reduce overwhelm

During a Therapy Intensive, I focus on supporting your teen directly while prioritizing their autonomy and privacy. Rather than inviting parents into the Intensive sessions, I help your teen explore what feels helpful for you to know and develop language they can use to express their needs. Together, we explore what kinds of support would feel most helpful for them as they continue to grow, adjust, and navigate this season of life.

College Years Intensive — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if the College Years Intensive is right for me (or my teen)?

This Intensive is a good fit if you're facing anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, identity questions, uncertainty about the future, or major college transitions. If you want meaningful support now, rather than months from now, this structured short-term format can be a great match.

How is this different from weekly therapy?

Weekly therapy is valuable, but many students want something more structured, focused, and immediate.

The Intensive includes:

     A 1-hour pre-session

     A 3-hour deep-dive session

     A 1-hour post-session

This extended time allows for deeper insight, faster progress, and more clarity than traditional 50-minute weekly sessions — especially during transitional seasons like college.

Can I do this Intensive if I already have a therapist?

Yes. This can work beautifully as adjunct support.

If you're already working with another therapist, I can collaborate with them (with your permission) so everything feels aligned and supportive.

How soon can I schedule a College Years Intensive?

Availability varies, but many students prefer to schedule their Intensive during winter or summer breaks, when academic demands are lighter and there's more space to focus on personal growth. These breaks can be an ideal time to dive into the deeper work of the 3-hour session.

If you're hoping to schedule quickly, feel free to reach out — I'll let you know my current openings and help you find a time that fits well with your academic schedule.

Do I need to prepare anything before starting the Intensive?

Before your pre-session, you'll receive a personalized reflective workbook. Completing this ahead of time gives you space to organize your thoughts, patterns, and goals so we can make the most of our time together.

If you're participating during a school break, you're welcome to complete the workbook while you're home and then schedule the 3-hour core session during the break itself. The final 1-hour post-session can take place after you return to campus, as long as you're located in a state where I'm licensed. This often provides a helpful layer of support during the transition back to school.

No other preparation is required — just come as you are.

Do I have to live in Pennsylvania to participate?

You can attend the online Intensive if you are physically located in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Florida, or South Carolina at the time of each session.

In-person sessions may be available in Delaware County, PA depending on scheduling and space availability.

Can parents be involved if my teen participates?

The Intensive is designed to support your teen directly while prioritizing their autonomy and privacy.

Rather than bringing parents into sessions, I help your teen explore:

What feels helpful for you to know

How they want to communicate their needs

What support from you would be most meaningful

We work together to identify the best ways for you to support them as they grow and navigate this stage of life.

What happens after the Intensive?

You'll receive next-step recommendations that may include continued therapy, coping strategies, or tools to help maintain clarity and momentum.

If you're interested in ongoing weekly therapy with me (and you live in a state where I'm licensed), we can talk about options.

What is the cost and what does it include?

The College Years Intensive is $1200 and includes:

     5 live therapy hours (1 + 3 + 1 format)

     A personalized workbook

     Tailored coping strategies and recommendations

Time spent reviewing your workbook responses and preparing individualized therapeutic tools

     Flexible scheduling around academic demands

Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes. You can secure your spot with a 50% deposit.
The remaining balance is due on the day of the 3-hour core session.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once you schedule the Intensive, that time is reserved for you.
If you cancel within 2 weeks of the Intensive date, you are responsible for the full cost of the package.

I'm not sure if I'm ready. Can we talk first?

Absolutely. You're welcome to reach out with questions or schedule a no-pressure consultation. The goal is to help you decide if this format feels like the right support for where you are.

Feeling stuck?

Let's take the next step together.
