My Path & What Shapes My Work

Missy Kleinz offering online counseling for teens and young adults

My path into this work has always been shaped by curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief that every person deserves to be truly seen and understood.

Long before I became a therapist, I learned what it meant to carry feelings alone — and how life-changing it can be when someone makes space for you with warmth instead of judgment.
Those early experiences stayed with me.

They became the reason I felt drawn toward counseling long before I had the words for it.

As I grew, that calling shaped every academic and career choice I made — studying the ways people make meaning, choosing roles rooted in service and care, and placing myself in environments where I could listen deeply and show up for others with presence and empathy.

But the heart of my work comes from something even more personal.

I remember what it felt like to be a teenager and young adult trying to hold everything together — the confusion, the pressure, the fear of not being "enough," the emotions that felt too big to carry by myself.
I didn't always have someone who truly got it.
And I promised myself that one day, I would become the person I needed back then.

That's the lens I bring into every session:
offering the kind of support, steadiness, and understanding I once needed, and now offer to the teens and young adults who walk through my door. I support them through the questions they're wrestling with, the emotions that feel heavy or confusing, and the tender work of figuring out who they are and where they fit.

I know how powerful it is to have someone sit with you — not to fix you, but to understand you.
It's how I support, challenge, and walk beside my clients as they grow into themselves.

My Integrative Background

My training includes spiritual and pastoral integration, but my work is not tied to any religion, doctrine, or belief system.

To me, holistic counseling simply means honoring the whole of your lived experience — your emotions, your history, your identity, and the wisdom you already carry inside you.

Here's what that looks like in the therapy room:

You get to bring your whole self into the space.

Your beliefs (or lack of beliefs) are welcome.

Your values guide the work we do.

You remain the expert on your own inner world.

I honor every person's identity, culture, and worldview.
You never have to believe what I believe — the work is always centered on you.

How My Values Shape My Approach

Missy Kleinz offering online counseling for teens and young adults

You are capable of healing, growing, and discovering the answers you need within yourself.
I believe that deeply — and my role isn't to tell you who to be, but to sit beside you as you learn to understand yourself more fully.

Here's what that looks like in the therapy room:

     Empathy — deep, attuned understanding
Non-judgment — your feelings are welcome, not evaluated
Authenticity — a real human connection, not a clinical wall
Kindness & acceptance — honoring the whole you
Integrity & transparency — you'll always know I'm in your corner

Collaboration — we do the work together, as equals

I trust your inner voice, even if it's quiet, unsure, or still taking shape.
I believe in your capacity to understand yourself more deeply over time. And I will always hold space for your story with care, curiosity, and respect.

My Therapy Style
(A Little About the "Rogers" Who Inspire Me)

Missy Kleinz, LPC Rogers Triangle including Carl Rogers, Fred Rogers, and Steve Rogers

I created this graphic as a playful nod to three very different "Rogers" who inspire the values behind my work —

the empathy of Carl Rogers,
the kindness of Fred Rogers,
and the integrity and courage of Steve Rogers.

It's a lighthearted reminder that therapy can be meaningful, compassionate, and deeply human — without losing its warmth or accessibility.

These are the qualities I aim to embody each time I sit with someone in the therapy room.

What You Can Expect Working With Me

Missy Kleinz offering online counseling for teens and young adults

Therapy with me is collaborative and person-centered.
I don't lecture, diagnose from a distance, or tell you who you're supposed to be.

Instead, we explore your story together — gently, at your pace, with curiosity and compassion.

You get to show up honestly, even if you're unsure or questioning where to begin.

As you learn to know yourself, trust yourself, and honor your own values, you naturally start making decisions that align with who you truly are.

You don't have to have the right words or know exactly what you need — we'll figure it out together.

And I'm right here with you — every step of the way.
